Friday 5 January 12: Stolen 5

1.What do you drink in the morning?

Water is the only thing I drink 98% of the time during my day. Since I have to take my morning medications, I almost 100% take them with water.

2. What was the last song you heard?

This changes by the minute or at the most a few hours. Except when I am at work, I always have some music playing. Right now that song is "The River" by the fictional rock band Daisy Jones & The Six from the Amazon Prime TV series of the same name. This is what I was listening to when I was typing up the responses for this blog on Google Docs a few hours ago.

You can keep up to date on what I last listened to by checking out my Last FM profile:

I love music, music genres, lists and tracking the songs I listen to through a process called "scrobbling" at the Last FM website. I also publish music charts on my blog and at the M4B Personal Charts site online where chart geeks hang out.

M4B Charts Website - my username there is macprohawaii.

Mel's Music Blog - charts, music streams, opinions, videos… lots of pop rock and oldies stuff here.

My current most favorite song since September 2023 is "Angry" by The Rolling Stones. It is quite surprising that these three remaining 80 year old guys can still rock it along with their much younger back-up musicians. So in the end of my most recent scrobbles, you'll find "Angry" as the song I last played.

3. What are your feelings about ghosts?

The day I see and photograph one I'll believe it. Currently: No.

4. How do you feel about camping?

Inconvenient but could be fun. The last time I camped out was on July 11, 1991. I slept in a car waiting for a total solar eclipse to occur early the next morning.

5. What are your thoughts on showers vs. baths?

Showers are quicker. Both can be fun if you can do something creative with them. But for the most part I'm in a hurry and have to move on.

These questions and more are posted on Scrivener's Blog.

Friday 5 for January 27: Hero’s journey

From Scrivener's Friday 5 Blog: "Hello, and welcome to this week’s Friday 5! Please copy these questions to your webspace. Answer the question there; then leave a comment below so we’ll all know where to check out your responses. Please don’t forget to link us from your website!"

1. When did you hear (and heed) the Call to Adventure this week?

There is no adventure in the work a day week last week, this week nor the week ahead.

2. What challenges did you encounter on your Road of Trials from last weekend to this weekend?

Traffic, deadlines, overlapping tasks, lunch decisions, cost, and other agendas of the work-a-day life.

3. What kinds of temptations did you face this week?

Should I buy the new 2023 Mac Mini computer with the M2 chip, 512 GB SSD and 32 gigs of ram?

Can you resist the Apple marketing propaganda?

4. What was your Ultimate Boon (that is, your greatest reward) this week?

Surviving into Friday and laying low over the weekend.

5. If you canceled all your obligations this weekend (and the coming week) and had the Freedom to Live it any way you wanted, how would you spend the time?

Money worries set aside, traveling to some faraway place on a Boeing 747 (I feel safer in multi engine planes), safely landing there and going on a photo adventure taking pictures in the new place. In the late afternoon and early evening it would be relaxing to take in and photographing the sunset from a lounge chair on the beach. Going to sleep afterward would be nice.

Friday 5 for September 6: From the Top

The following questions come from Scrivener's Friday 5 blog.
The theme this week is "From the Top".... hmmm... let's see.
Here are the questions....

1. What’s a food or drink whose bottom is better than its top?

There aren't too much that I can think of here... what do I like scraping bottom for? The leftover chocolate that did not completely dissolve from what's left of hot cocoa comes to mind....  I would also say the ice cubes left at the bottom of a soda or just plain water is something that I like better than the drink.

2. What’s at the top of your weekend agenda?

Not in any particular order... getting some mail out (the kind requiring paper and stamps), cleaning, going grocery shopping, resting, and not much else at the top of my agenda. Generally my weekends are usually ho-hum and I like it that way. Nothing to exciting in my life.

3. When did you last wear a non-hat covering for your head?

Back in 2010 I had the privilege of sailing out on the nuclear aircraft carrier U.S.S. Ronald Reagan. I was there for a media tour as a photographer for an online publication. One thing I remember is that we had to wear a protective headgear called a "cranial" when we went to observe operations on the flight deck of the carrier and also wear that on the helicopter ride back to Joint Base Hickam-Pearl Harbor in Honolulu.

4. What tunes did you spin this week?

As of this posting on my Last FM site the most recent ten tunes played are the following:

I Should Have Known Better - The Beatles
The Happening - The Supremes
(If I'm Dreaming) Just Let Me Dream - Brenda Lee
Happy Together - The Turtles
Don't Worry Baby - The Beach Boys
I Know A Place - Petula Clark
No Milk Today - Herman's Hermits
The Letter - The Box Tops
Jennifer Eccles - The Hollies
Ain't Gonna Move - Sam The Sham & The Pharoahs

I've been on a 1960s rock /pop streak this weekend. Many of the things I play on iTunes or my Android gets logged on Last FM. I also like to play my old vinyl records, tapes, radio or CDs and none of those get logged.

5. When were you last on the roof of a building?

I live on the eighth floor of my 17-floor condo building. Therefore I am on the roof of whoever lives on the 4th through 7th floors of this building. I can also look down on the building next to mine from my 8th floor balcony. Nice view of the air conditioning units is all I will show. Heh.

Friday 5 for February 17: Yule Never Be Alone

Merry Christmas! From Scrivener's weekly Friday 5 blog: "Hello, and welcome to this week's Friday 5!  Please copy these questions to your webspace.  Answer the questions there; then leave a comment below so we'll all know where to check out your responses.  Please don't forget to link us from your website!"

1. About how many family Christmas photo-cards did you receive this year*?

Zero from my family; one that had a picture of a family on it.

2. About how many family Christmas newsletters did you receive this year?

Usually one from Rob and Tammy.

3. What do you do with the Christmas photo-cards and newsletters you get each year?

File them and later toss 'em when I do a de-cluttering clean out.

4. What's a good solution for singles who want to participate in this tradition without coming across as a loser?

I don't send out Christmas cards these days, but when I did, I just sent out generic ones that you buy individually or in boxed sets.

5. About how many old-school, hand-addressed Christmas cards did you receive this year?

Zero.

" * Yeah, yeah.  It was last year, but you know what I mean"
